Horta is a university spin-off company borne in 2008 to answer the increasing need/interest of the agricultural sector and its consumers to a higher crop production sustainability.

Horta’s mission is to increase the value of research in the agro-food sector, by

• developing Decision Support Systems (DSSs) for sustainable crop production based on new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs);
• transferring technological innovation to practical agriculture at national and international level, mainly in the sectors of intensive crop production, biomass production, quality labelling, agro-food chains, with particular focus on productivity, environmental sustainability and food safety;
• designing, developing and testing new agricultural/technical tools for the market
• advising agro-food industries.
