The main areas of focus are:

• Health Service Research, Health Policy, Governance and Leadership (value-based healthcare and governance of health systems and services, Health Management and organizational innovation in healthcare, Health Technology Assessment, quality of healthcare, monitoring of clinical-care pathways)
• Environmental surveillance and infection control (food safety, hospital hygiene, prevention of nosocomial infections and infectious risk among healthcare workers)
• Support for the definition of health policies in the field of personalized medicine/prevention at national and European level
• Planetary health and research on environment and health
• Vaccine hesitancy and vaccination strategies
• Epidemiology and prevention of chronic diseases (particularly cancer and cardiovascular diseases)
• Meta-research (research on how research is conducted and interpreted)
