Abstract: Imagining a Europe in which every cancer patient, wherever they are, can equitably access cutting-edge medical care and the most innovative therapies: this is the vision behind the Joint Action European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (EUnetCCC), a pioneering initiative launched in October 2024 as part of Flagship 5 of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and co-funded by the EU4Health programme.
The EUnetCCC Joint Action aims to make this vision a reality, continuing and implementing the work initiated by the CraNE Joint Action (October 2022 – September 2024). The goal is ambitious: to reach at least 100 Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) by 2028 and to create a harmonised and integrated network of centres already certified or in preparation for certification. Through this commitment, the initiative will make a significant contribution to ensuring that 90% of eligible patients in Europe can benefit from high-quality, evidence-based care throughout their cancer journey, regardless of their geographical area.
With 163 partner institutions from 31 countries, the EUnetCCC Joint Action aims to advance cancer care through an inclusive certification system, sustainable partnerships between centers united in a membership organization, seamless integration between cutting-edge research and clinical practice, and a network collaboration model between CCCs to accelerate the improvement of care and research.
To achieve these objectives, the EUnetCCC Joint Action is divided into 9 dedicated working groups, each committed to a key aspect to build a solid and collaborative European oncology network. With this strong commitment, EUnetCCC is set to transform the landscape of integrated cancer care and set new standards of excellence, equity and innovation across Europe.
